{BIG ANNOUNCEMENT} BEAUTY Session

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Ahhhh!!!! So excited to share my project that I have so secretly been working on for months!!! I will give you the goods on how this all came about...
sorry you are going to get the long winded version...for as long as I can remember I've wanted to be a wedding photographer/coordinator!~ I've always loved party planning. And what better way to spend a day but with a gorgeous couple who are promising to spend their life together. I still to this day remember the excitement of being pampered and slipping into a pretty dress for my wedding day!~ as a women you feel so beautiful! so jump ahead...I'm capturing weddings for beautiful couples all around our beautiful province!~I feel so blessed for each couple who chooses me to capture their day. I've worked so hard investing time and money into learning my craft for many years. (going digital and having photoshop has been a huge learning curve for me!~still learning!) anyways I am easily distracted...so in my small town I see many "new" photographers coming out of the woodwork each year...and if people chose their photographer on price alone I would surely lose. I run a legit business and yes I have expenses and do wish to make a profit. But that is a whole other story...so stay focused Tammy....
so my wise hubby said you need to find a "niche" something to separate yourself and make yourself unique! (don't worry I will always do weddings and family too! my first love!)
funny story: his suggestion was real estate photography...ughhh sigh! how boring for me. Sorry sweets!
My idea was capturing "beautiful woman" in all walks of life. This is not boudoir (it could be) but boudoir or pin up pictures are not for everyone!~ I wanted beauty pictures that you would be proud to show your daughter or grandmother!
I LOVE Brides...they are just beaming...and it sooo shows in camera! They make my job so easy to get that amazing connection. Then after most women have children and then hide behind the camera or their children...with lots of excuses...wait till my hair is longer/shorter or till I lose that last 10 lbs....no more excuses ladies...I truly feel we as women need to capture our amazinglingness (so not a word! OH well!) I think woman should have a "beauty session" every 10 years...just think 10 years from now to look back and this "hot damn I looks amazing at 35...45...or 55..." no more excuses! We all deserve it!
so let me digress a little more...or ramble whatever you want to call it. First I needed to experience it first hand. so after a little market research...I found the most amazing photographer who is truly has a great gift to offer. www.theprettyroom.com Tacey runs TPR and does a perfect job at it. I booked myself in for a session while in the Okanagan after a wedding I was shooting on a fall weekend. I didn't really tell anyone. I did it for me!~ It was so great! I have amazing images and a perfect album and wall portrait to prove it (huge shout out to Tacey!~I knew I would love it...and you so helped me in my journey) If you have a session with me I will show you my amazing album...I so plan to return for a mother /daughter session in the near future...My daughters think my images are the most beautiful things ever.
So with that under my belt...I schemed and schemed and spent time learning...and more scheming. Then I just did it...with a 4 day weekend in February with an amazing makeup artist...we captured 10 beautiful women. I was so HOOKED! I soooo LOVED it! If there was  any doubt! But I really felt I needed to have a great portfolio of Beautiful women to show off this new "genre" of photography I would love to offer. so here it is.... the long and the short of it all.
I am very proud to offer women of all ages the opportunity to have a session to capture their own milestones...even better do it with your sister, mother, friend or daughter. Let's celebrate you!

so no more waiting for the perfect dress size, hairstyle or whatever is holding you back. I truly promise that I will make you feel and look your best! If you have found yourself saying.."I never look good in pictures"...then let me pose you and get you behind my lens! I dare ya!
Thanks for listening...now head over to my new"Beauty" blogsite and share with all the BEAUTIFUL WOMEN in your life!

xo Tammy

{week 9} St Patty's day

Sunday, March 17, 2013

St Patricks day...AKA Momma's birthday. We love a party. Grady has been excited about my birthday...first wanting to know what I want for a gift and then what kind of cake I want. I really confused the poor little duck when I asked for breakfast in bed. My other request was a picture of me and my crew on this green and snowy morning. I didn't request the snow overnight:(
Makenna was not a fan of the photographer...aka Daddy laughing at her pouty face. So when it was my turn to capture a couple of just the three of them...she was done....later Carrigan told us she stayed up late reading. Hmmmm...you can tell.
Happy Green day to you all. I hope it is a great one!
xo Tammy

{Women's Expo} 2013

Friday, February 22, 2013

I had the pleasure to spend the evening at a lovely little fundraiser event at a local area school. It is their 2nd year showcasing women entrepeneurs from our community. Above is a couple of quick pics from my iPhone...sorry camera packed for sessions this weekend.  It was fun to meet some new ladies and chat with friends. Thanks to all who stopped in!
I told many I would do a quick post with the recipe for my scrummy chocolate cupcakes...according to my hubby they are the best he's ever had!
Here it is:
Quinoa Chocolate Cake (or cupcakes) Gluten free

2 cups of cooked quinoa
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup melted butter
Blend this in blender

Then add to
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
I baked these little cupcakes at 350' for 15 minutes.
My simple yummy icing:
I medium size carton of whip cream, whip this up then add 1/2 carton of cream cheese and about 1 cup icing sugar. Also add 1 tbsp of cornstarch...this help set the whip cream. EAsy and sooo good.
Enjoy!
thanks to my lovely sister in law Bronwyn for the great recipe!

{week 4} inside snow day

Saturday, February 2, 2013

I love our office/creative space....makenna has graduated to the big table. Grady prefers to use the floor. But everyone is happy in this space. It was cold and snowy! shocking! and we're happy to be together creating!

***instagram***if you haven't found out about instagram. Its another way to share photos. I've added a sneak peak onto my blog. Usually just everyday photos...but I love! I've also started a daily photo challenge for myself. #mygratefullife
we preach to our kids always about being grateful and remembering the best part of everyday...even the crummy ones. So I thought i'd challenge myself to post a pic daily of what I'm grateful for...check it out and try it for yourself. You will look at things differently.
enjoy your weekend

Tammy Watson Photography's  WORK FEATURED AS AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF SAME-SEX WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IN FIRST-OF-ITS KIND BOOK, “CAPTURING LOVE: THE ART OF LESBIAN & GAY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY”
Tammy Watson Photography, Williams Lake, BC January 27, 2013. When it comes to wedding portraits, what works for heterosexual couples may not work for same-sex couples. Enter Capturing Love: The Art of Lesbian & Gay Wedding Photography, a groundbreaking new visual guide by veteran wedding photographer Thea Dodds of Authentic Eye Photography, and same-sex wedding pioneer Kathryn Hamm ofGayWeddings.com, available from Authentic Weddings in limited release via Lulu.com and in nationwide release in March 2013. Capturing Lovefeatures captivating photographs of forty-six couples from thirty-eight of the top gay and lesbian wedding photographers who represent 19 states, Canada, Italy and the U.K, including Tammy Watson of Williams Lake, BC.
Through diverse examples of unconventional wedding portraits and new twists on conventional wedding imagery, as well as detailed commentary from the authors, the book provides needed support to wedding photographers who must revisit the rules of traditional wedding and engagement portrait posing to better serve all couples in today’s diverse wedding market.
Said Hamm: “Capturing Love would not have been possible without the generous contributions and talents of the many photographers who were willing to share their work with us. We are incredibly grateful to Tammy Watson for joining us on this special journey and thrilled to showcase her work. We hope Capturing Love inspires every photographer shooting a same-sex wedding to think outside the box, and to create photos that truly capture the one-of-a-kind magic present at each couple’s wedding day.”
Said Dodds: “The image of Tammy WatsonPhotography we selected was culled from amongst thousands of candidates. But Tammy's represented beautifully the answer to three simple but important questions: Are these images authentic? Do these images reflect intimacy? Are these images believable? For any couple–straight or gay–an engagement or wedding portrait should elicit a ‘yes’ to all three questions, as Tammy Watson's photograph did. That combination of authenticity, intimacy, and believability will be different for every couple, and the wide range of photos of same-sex couples in Capturing Love illustrates just how diverse wedding portraiture can, and should, be.”
Said Tammy Watson: "...thrilled to be included with amazing artists sharing their captures of great love stories

{week 1} sycamore tree

Sunday, January 13, 2013

okay....last year I didn't have any photo projects of my trio. Tonight we chatted and it was decided that I could have the honour to do a weekly photo of the three of them without too much complaining...my family really gets tired of me snapping away at them all the time. The girls repeat " yes we know we will appreciate it when we are older" Haha!  I love albums and this weekly challenge makes for a great album at the end of the year.
Above is from our adventures in Arizona. On our little road trip to Sedona. Along the way; tucked into a mountainside is Montezuma Castle. it is estimated to have been built in the 1300's. by an ancient Indian tribe; Sinaqua.  It was very very busy with sooo many people. But we enjoyed the area. The first time we seen a sycamore tree! I LOVED this tree. Amazing and smooth and full of colors. Very unique! It was a sunny crisp day...enjoy the peak into my life with our trio! ***remember to capture your family doing daily family things..these memories will be treasured. (ya ya Mom...we get it!:)

{baby} Toben

Thursday, January 10, 2013

seems to be a run on little boy babies in my life lately!~Very excited for this lovely family on the safe arrival of their sweet son. Master Toben was a dream to capture. He was sleep and snuggly!~ His two big sisters were sweet assistance and happy to get in front of my camera.

He is going to be one loved and snuggled little boy! He has his work cut out for him to keep up to his sisters. I'm a little partial to this family dynamic...since this is how we roll here at our home. Little brothers RULE!~ thanks Sarah and Glenn for letting me capture your handsome little son.
