{week 22} Merry Christmas to all

Saturday, December 25, 2010

It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.-- Dr. Seuss

Wishing everyone a fabulous holiday season full of love and snuggles! xoxoxox

***enjoy the photo; custom backdrop designed by my lovely artistic girls! They thought it would look grand!

{week 21} christmas crackers

Monday, December 20, 2010

we thought we'd put together our christmas crackers while Grady napped....well he woke up! so he joined in which was not very helpful....so we tuned into a Thomas video on the computer. Here he is watching his "thomas show" while the girls put together everyone's crackers. The largest crackers you ever seen....we made 18 personalized crackers for our Christmas dinner at Grama's in Vernon.

I was set to use toilet paper rolls but someone in my house used them to craft something else. oh well, we improvised and just stapled cardstock. We could then make them really full of fun stuff.

Little Labels

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Amanda brings you a great selection of consignment clothing from Newborn to maternity~ (she will take all your outgrown kids clothes:) ) She also has an amazing selection of handmade jewelry.
I'm thrilled to announce that she has allowed me to display my lovely art on her walls! Stop in and say hi and check it out!

{week 20} family christmas potluck

Monday, December 13, 2010

Grady has his hands full of toys and his new "kitty kat" from Grandpa merv! good times

***Gradys shirt says "good looks run in the family" Kent thought it was suiting for a family event! Although my Uncles teased he got his good looks from the Erlandson side! HAHA!

{week 19} uncle visit

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

An uncle is a gift whose worth cannot be measured except by the heart.

...can you tell who has been missing their uncle josh! they all snuggled up after their bathtime....boy do we miss Uncle! Skyping is just not the same...hoping he has an amazing time in Maui and we are able to see him lots more over the holidays!

{sparks} smores

Mmmmm....marshmallow creme, melted chocolate and graham crackers! Bringing a little bit of summer campfire fun to life for a winter faux camp for Carrigan's Spark tonight. Here is the instructions in pictures: (make sure to let the chocolate dry before spreading on a dollop of marshmallow creme!)

***melted the chocolate in a double boiler...

{week 18} Williams lake Brownies

Monday, November 29, 2010

it was Makenna's brownies enrolment night and after the ceremony games were played....brother and sister were invited to join in. Grady was thrilled. It was cute to watch his little legs run so fast across the gymnasium.

{week 17} oh boy!

Monday, November 22, 2010

I love this one....he is sooo expressive in his little face. Can't fake the fact that he is tired of Mom's studio shoot....it was fun at first building up the set and then taste testing the rocket candies....but even the best models get tired of all the bright lights!;)

boys & trains....

Sunday, November 21, 2010

he is all boy....and like most boys he loves trains....he was very pleased to have "percy" pose for some pictures today. Percy the train even had to say "money" (Grady's little catch phrase for photos taking....)

{week 16} winter bundle up

Monday, November 15, 2010

Saturday night at 730pm we thought we'd trek out and watch the Williams Lake Stampeders play hockey.  Here we are all getting bundled up for the game. Grady still thinks its summer and is not taking too kindly to the winter attire. He is really attached to this hat...but the gloves seem to only make  good weapons to swing around and hit others with. Don't get us started on boots.
We had Miss O over for a sleep over so we all enjoyed the game (but mostly the treats mom packed) Carrigan scored a hockey puck that flew over the top....Grady is thrilled with it!

{week 15} school time

Monday, November 8, 2010

School time never ends at our home. My Makenna has always loved to be the teacher. Here she is teacher Carrigan, along with her assistant Grady, her numbers~ en francais

1 cup light corn syrup
1 can eagle brand milk
1 tsp vanilla
candy thermometer
popsicle sticks for apples
Bring the butter, sugar and corn syrup to a boil. Then add eagle brand milk and boil till you reach 245'. Then take off stove and stir in vanilla. Quickly cover apples. tip: dip the apples bottoms in sugar to prevent from sticking to wax paper when setting~

{Happy Halloween} Good times!

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Good times! We spent the morning halloween "decorating our pumpkins" which was a hit! (usually pumpkin carving is not the thrill that kids think it is and I end up completing it!) Grady was given the biggest pumpkin on his own chose a small one from our garden to decorate. Our front yard was decorated very spooky to entice some trick or treaters( we only get a few!) Then I made our yummy caramel apples! check out the yummy ingredients....no wonder they are sooo sweet and go so well with fresh juicy Okanagan apples!

above is at school....Carrigan was thrilled to dress up for school. I stayed to take the girls pics in their parade around the school and school board office!

Trick or Treat
Grady had this down pat after just one house...he was the cutest little lion...although he didn't want to get his whiskers painted on. We walked to the end of our street and back and he was thrilled. He was popping in choco bars like crazy while we Skyped uncle in Kamloops to show off our costumes. We also attended the haunted house at the Boys and Girls club. Wow what an amazing job! I would have liked to see the scarier version saturday night.

The Wizard of Oz
Makenna as Dorothy
Carrigan as the "good witch Glinda"
Grady as the cowardly lion
Daddy as the scarecrow
Mommy as the mean witch!

{week 14} bathtime

Monday, November 1, 2010

I just love this shot of my three....love that I can get three bathed in one shot!

{week 13} 10th annual t-day hunt

Monday, October 25, 2010

10 years ago when we first moved here....we started our annual family hunting trip.(usually thanksgiving weekend!) Kent's Grandpa and Grandma drive from Lumby to come up so Grandpa can go hunting for deer with him. Kent's mom always jumps in for the trip. Over the years a many of deer have been hunted! Also many additional guests have come over for turkey....sometimes we have a real big houseful! This year its just the three of them. We are so thankful for these memories.... this morning Kent took all the gramma's with them for a morning hunt! So me and the kidlets started the prep for dinner. Carrigan did the sweet potatoes and Makenna is making the pumpkin pies.
(so far this weekend the deer have been spared!):)

{newborn} Max

Grady

Sunday, October 24, 2010

{newborn} Max

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

I love being able to share an afternoon with a new family. Max is one very lucky little man. He has a very loving family to welcome him into the world. Of course he wanted to see what I was doing for most of the afternoon but I was able to snap a few sleepy shots of this sweet l'il face. Thanks for letting me capture some of his newest moments....here is a little sneak peak (more to come!)

{week 12} oh boy!

Monday, October 18, 2010

Oh boy! he is a big challenge to photograph these days! I even brought bribes; bright yellow car, rocket candies... He was one stubborn boy on this day trying to capture some pics for our xmas cards...takes after his daddy!:(

{week 11} movie & pizza night

Monday, October 11, 2010

I never let my kids eat on the couch....but tonight called for a special treat! Pizza and a movie. Daddy was away hunting so we rented some great movies. Flicka for the kids and chick flicks for me!

{friends} Farewell Canyon Hike

Sunday, October 10, 2010

A great last hurray at summer. We thought we'd better check out the great outdoors. A great way to spend a sunny day with friends.  The sand dunes were a hit. If your in the area and have never been its the best view ever and only takes us about an hour to hike in. Stay on the trail and watch out for cactus! Poor Johnny the dog got many many in his paws and such.

{5 years old} ear piercing

Saturday, October 9, 2010

I can't believe this day has come....the deal was to be 5 years old, quit sucking your finger and promise to keep your earings cleaned daily! So she has been sucky finger free since May...(or before) that's when she got her appliance removed for helping her quit!:) My little superstar. She then decided to get it done while we visited with Grama in Vernon (just like Makenna did!) She was sooo brave! Makes me a little sad to see her growing up so fast. She of course picked the ones with the most bling! (the pictures are from my p&s; forgot my memory card on camera grrr.!)

{week 10} Farewell Canyon Hike

Monday, October 4, 2010

                                  {week 10} Farewell Canyon Hike

We decided to play hookie this past saturday from our regular scheduled indoor events (swimming & gymnastics) to spend a great day outside while the sun was shining! We packed our lunches and headed out west. We hiked with great friends to the sand dunes at Farewell....
We all came home weighing a little extra with the sand in our pockets and shoes! A great way to spend a beautiful fall day.
(here we are waiting for our friends to arrive; and they have been spotted...winding done the road!)

{fall bounty} williams lake mini carrots

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

everything in our garden grows "mini". Carrots, beets, pumpkins....all except our amazing year of zuchini. fresh garden carrots enough for a couple of lunch time snacks. This is why I subscribe to the amazing box a week.(Mackin Creek Farms) We'd starve on my bounty.

{fall flowers}

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

I was cleaning up in the yard and didn't have the heart to pull out these flowers yet. THis one was still so beautiful....guess they don't know its fall....

{week 9} bedtime

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

{week 9} bedtime rituals at our house;
this is a big part of our day that includes certain rituals that the children sometimes want to overlook. Brushing teeth is finally getting easy; Grady is finally not screaming for it. he just has to have "his turn" then he will let me have a turn like the girls. Then off to bed with snuggles and bedtime stories. Notice my kids all have their own blankies...Makenna's is dora blankie, Carrigan is "blue" blankie and Grady is "ei i oh". These are crucial in the bedtime ritual. They were devastated that they maybe couldn't bring them on our trip to the UK...so they each packed their own "blankie" in their own backpacks. Simple pleasures.
Then we kiss the girls and Grady and I go and rock/sing before he is put in his own little bed. phhhh....by this time I'm ready for bed too!

{week 8} 1st day of School Ecole Marie Sharpe

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

yay! Grady is soooo happy picking up his girls from their first day of school....School has become that nasty 6 letter word that Grady doesn't want to hear! It means he doesn't have his best girls to play with...just his momma! Lots of adjusting here at the Watson's. Full-time kindergarten; missing both my girls! So proud how confident and happy they are to be learning.....en francais! Oh happy day to you all (oh happy day is G fav. new song!)

{deer} Williams Lake

Friday, September 10, 2010

I went outside to pick some zucchini from my garden and 2 "baby" deer were bedded down in the neighbors yard on the one side. Startled me! Then I came back out to get something out of shed and they were on the other side of me eating fruit from the neighbors tree....I'm not sure if they should still be with their Momma...but they were pretty cute! Thought I better grab a picture to so the girls....they are already getting more furry for winter....hopefully they just hide out around here. Hunting season is open soon....oh crap now they are  in our yard...I can see from my window by my computer! Probably eyeing up my garden greens. Fall is in the air....

{first day of school} Ecole Marie Sharpe

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Carrigan's first day of kindergarten! she was soooo excited...she said to me that she "just loved it!" She is sooo ready for the challenge. Makenna was a little less excited...I woke her during her beauty sleep...hopefully day 2 will be more exciting when she can actually be in her classroom with her actually teacher~ they are still sorting the details!
Grady was sooo sad this am...he wanted to "go school too!" poor boy he is so used to doing everything with his sisters.

{corn picking} Dunlevy ranch in Williams Lake area

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

this is our 3rd year of corn-picking...we wanted to go last week but Makenna was away. So the skies parted after school this morning and we took it upon ourselves to head out to pick our corn. This is the first year that Grady would know what was happening...he loved it!( except he spit out the corn:( LOL!)
the first year we picked  grady was 6 weeks old and lied on a blanket amongst the corn. I think this year is the best cornpicking year so far....lots of sweet corn.
I think its important life lesson for my kids to know where they get there food.
then home to husk, blanche and freeze over 50 cobs of corn....fall fun never ends~

{week 7} armstrong fair IPE

Friday, September 3, 2010

it's me that loves it that most...I love the IPE! good times in a beautiful little town. I love love armstrong such a gorgeous setting for a town. this year we had it hot hot hot again for the fair. lemonade, rides, yummy food and animals! {Williams lake} Scout Island is smokin'

Sunday, August 22, 2010

On a very smokey day...what should we do...we were the only ones heading out to scout island to explore...needed somewhere to burn off some energy! Picnic in the park; came home smelling like campfire!

{grady} jump rope and popsicles...

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

He is all boy....except that he has 2 lovely big sisters....so he tries to keep up with them all the time. He is chillin eating his popsicle and wearing his sisters crocs...(he has a thing for his sisters shoes:)!) and then he decided to show me how he can jump rope. He was sooo pleased with himself.  He is growing up way to fast for my liking...but not fast enough for him before long he will be able to do everything they can do and maybe more. (don't mind his messy clothes;yes that is popsicle drip all over his clothes...my motta is a dirty kid is a happy kid!)
